Our trip to Vietnam is over and I’m glad that we went. It’s probably good to see how other people and cultures live, eat, sleep, play and work. I didn’t see quite all I wanted however some things just didn’t go in our favour what with tummy troubles and a bit of malaise. Sometimes, if you go just one more street or one more mile you might just see something you would not imagine. You might get into a bit of trouble too.

Recommendations:

Best time to go – Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hue – December. Hanoi, Halong Bay, Sapa – April. We missed out on Sapa due to tummy toubles and a lack of positive planning.

Airline – Vietnam Airlines for good seating, excellent service and reasonably low cost.

Hotels – HCMC – Liberty 6 Hotel – good location, good rooms, excellent service and reasonable cost.

Hoi An – Vinh Hung Resort – excellent service, meals, quiet location about 500m (a pleasant stroll) from the old town.

Hanoi – not part of our experience.
